Bruening Sweeps Farley Speedway Late Model Twin Features

Farley, Iowa: The Farley Speedway hosted the Ideal Ready Mix Tri-Track Challenge on Friday night with an outstanding night of racing featuring 7 main events in six classes.

The Out Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models took center stage with an outstanding field of 22 Drivers signing in looking to take home the $1,000 winners share of each of the 30 lap features for the Ideal Ready Mix Tri-Track Challenge. When the final checkered flag of the night flew it was Decorah, Iowa’s hotshoe Tyler Bruening completing the sweep of the nights racing action by winning both 30 lap main events. The first main saw Bruening draw the pole position and race to the 30 lap win over Justin Kay and Nick Marolf. The second feature lined up with an invert of all cars on the lead lap from the first main event. The invert put Bruening in the 11th starting position, close racing throughout the main event went on while Bruening steadily worked his way to the front. A lap 18 caution put Bruening in a position to take the lead on the restart and the “Rockman” went on to record his second feature win of the night over Justin Kay and Spencer Diercks. The two wins plus a Malvern Bank & Trust fast time award brought Bruening’s winnings to $2,100 for the night.

Several drivers took their turn at the point position in the GSI Collision Specialists Modified main event. Justin Kay drove his 15K Mod to the front overtaking leader Ron Lauritzen near the midway point of the 20 lapper and Kay went on to record the win over Austin Moyer and Jeff Aikey.

The GSI Collision Specialists Sportmods ran for an expanded purse on Friday night. The winners share was bumped up to $750 and Troy Bauer collected the winners check by capturing a hard fought 20 lap feature win. Bauer raced tot he front from a 4th row start and recorded the win ahead of Austin Schrage and Dalton Simonsen.

Phil Holtz scored the 10 lap Stock win by taking the checkers ahead of Tom Cannon. Matt Pohlman won the Hobby Stock feature as the Hobby Stocks were guests of the Farley Speedway on Friday night. The Bakey Seasmless Gutters 4 cylinder feature win went to Jake Benischeck.

The Farley Speedway will now go on a three week hiatus as the County Fairs in the area will take center stage. The next race at the Farley Speedway will be a major special as the Open Late Models will converge on the super fast 3/8 mile dirt track on Monday, August 7th for a $10,000 to win race program.
