Diercks Collects Biggest Payday Ever At Farley Speedway

Farley, Iowa: The Farley Speedway hosted the Corn Belt Clash Open late Model Shootout on Monday, August 7th. The night provided the fans in attendance with a great night of racing which included several twists and turns and the apparent winner was not awarded the top prize. The 50 lap Shootout main event took the green with National Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer, Scott Bloomquist from Mooresburg, Tennessee bolting out to a comfortable lead. While “Bloomer” was building a large lead the battle for second was waged with Windfield, Tennessee driver Mike Marlar and 20 year old Bettendorf driver Spencer Diercks running lap after lap wheel to wheel. The Georgia Bulldog Shane Clanton also joined in the battle for second. As the leaders encountered lapped traffic it became very clear that Bloomquist was losing grip and his right rear tire was about to go. On a restart with 15 to go both Marlar and Diercks were able to get by the slowing Bloomquist. The right rear tire did let go on the Zero machine of Bloomquist and Marlar took over the point and went on score the apparent victory. The race was then decided in post race inspection as Marlar failed to make minimum weight making Diercks the winner. Diercks stated in victory lane, that is not the way I wanted to win but you have to be in position to get the win just in case.” The $10 K win is the largest victory for the young man from Bettendorf but many more big paydays will come the way of the very talented Diercks. Clanton finished second ahead of Rodney Sanders and Chad Simpson.

In support class action on Monday night Mark Schulte took home the $1,000 pay day by winning the 25 lap Modified feature. Schulte led the caution free main event flag to flag in taking the win ahead of JD Auringer. Tyler Soppe scored his 25th win of 2017 by taking the checkers ahead of Troy Bauer in the 20 lap Sportmod feature event.
